Argentina striker Paulo Dybala admits the last few weeks have been an extreme one, from almost moving to the Saudi Pro League to staying at Roma, getting call up to the Argentina national team, wearing the No. 10 jersey and scoring goals.
Back in the final stretch before the 2024 summer transfer window of major European leagues close, Dybala receive an offer from a team in Saudi Arabia, which he almost decide to take, but in the end, he was still charme by Rome and the challenge of playing in Europe.
The move has helped head coach Lionel Scaloni recall La Hoya for the 2026 World Cup South American qualifiers.
He also gave the number 10 jersey, which is the number of captain Lionel Messi, to Dybala to use temporarily while the Inter Miami star recovers from an ankle injury.
The 30-year-old player reciprocated the trust by coming on as a substitute and scoring a beautiful goal from a tight angle, rekindling his confidence and fire for the job.
“I know it’s not my jersey number, we all know it’s Lionel Messi’s,” he told ‘Taysee Sports’.
“I just try to put it on and do my best on the field.”
