Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella has confirmed he will continue to write songs in the future after the Euro 2024 winning song was criticised for referring to Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.
After the “Bulls” defeated England to win the European Championship, the left-back with the fluffy hair sang a song that translates to “Cougar, Cucurella. He eats paella – Cucurella, Cucurella. He drinks estrela – Haaland. You should be shaking because Cucurella is coming.”
Haaland didn’t have to wait long to get his revenge on Cucurella as the two clubs met in the opening game of the Premier League season, with City winning 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, with the Norwegian striker also scoring.
Haaland said after the game when asked: “It’s a very interesting song from the guy (Cucurella), I have nothing to say, I don’t really think about it, he does what he wants. Last year he asked for my shirt and then he started singing about me.”
However, Cucurella insisted that he would continue singing the song, insisting that it was not an insult, as the players in the song showed that they were top-notch.
“There is a lot of interest in this and this kind of thing happens,” Cucurella’s said during his country’s Nations League campaign. “I am very happy and I think if someone sings a song with his name on it, it is because he is a top player or a world-class star. If the name of a player is unknown, no one will mention it.”
“Everyone is happy because he scored UFABET and I am also happy to win the Euros. I will do it again. That’s all it takes.”
